1. General
By purchasing dahlia tubers from Ophelia Flower Farm, you agree to the following Terms & Conditions. Please read carefully before placing your order.
We reserve the right to update these terms at any time without prior notice.
2. Product Description
All dahlia tubers are sold as single viable tubers unless otherwise stated.
As dahlias are a natural product:
- Size, shape and appearance of tubers will vary.
- Photos are a representation only.
- Flower colour and form may vary slightly due to growing conditions.
We do our best to ensure varietal accuracy; however, occasional mislabelling can occur in horticulture.
3. Viability Guarantee
Each tuber is supplied with at least one visible eye at time of dispatch OR is guaranteed viable.
If a tuber fails to grow:
- You must notify us within the same growing season.
- Photographic evidence may be required.
- Tubers must have been planted and cared for correctly.
We reserve the right to offer:
- Replacement tuber (if available), or
- Store credit (refunds are not guaranteed).
Failure due to rot, pests, incorrect storage, poor soil conditions, overwatering, or extreme weather is not covered.
4. Shipping & Dispatch
Tubers are shipped during the appropriate planting season in New Zealand (typically late winter to spring).
- Dispatch dates are estimates and may shift depending on harvest and weather conditions.
- We are not responsible for courier delays once parcels leave our farm.
- Risk transfers to the purchaser upon dispatch.
If your parcel arrives damaged, you must contact us within 48 hours.
5. Pre-Orders
Pre-orders secure your tubers for the upcoming season.
- Full payment is required at checkout.
- Pre-orders cannot be combined with in-stock items unless specified.
- Orders cannot be modified once confirmed.
6. Cancellations & Refunds
Due to the seasonal and limited nature of tubers:
- Change-of-mind refunds are not available.
- Orders cannot be cancelled once packed or dispatched.
- If you request cancellation prior to dispatch, a store credit may be offered at our discretion.
7. Storage After Delivery
Once delivered, tubers must be stored correctly in a cool, dry, well-ventilated space until planting.
We are not responsible for damage resulting from:
- Improper storage
- Excess moisture
- Heat exposure
- Delayed opening of parcels
8. Growing Conditions
Successful growth depends on:
- Well-draining soil
- Frost-free conditions
- Appropriate watering practices
We are not responsible for plant performance influenced by environmental factors outside our control.
9. Limitation of Liability
Our liability is limited to the purchase price of the tuber(s).
We are not liable for:
- Crop failure
- Loss of income
- Indirect or consequential losses
- Weather damage
- Pest or disease issues occurring after planting
10. Biosecurity & Plant Health
We take care to supply healthy stock. However:
- Dahlias are not virus-tested unless explicitly stated.
- As with all plant material, latent viruses may be present without visible symptoms
- We have strict hygiene practices in our farm to prevent spread of viruses and disease, this is done by bleach sanitising between snips and removing any plant with viral/disease symptoms
By purchasing, you acknowledge the inherent risks associated with horticultural products.
11. Intellectual Property
Tubers may not be propagated for commercial resale without permission where plant breeders’ rights apply.
